No SR20 because not stalker.

Girl was early 20s, aviators, bleach blonde hair (may have been natural, I dunno). Driving a red R230 with the top down, chrome wheels and brand new plates with a rhinestone frame.

I don't know what sorority girls listen to, but surely that would have been what was playing through the stereo.

Once I was behind a bright red C-Class on the interstate and it put on it's left turn signal and proceeded to move right a lane. Pulled up next to it; blonde woman on a cell behind the wheel

As a fraternity alum that married a sorority girl, I approve of this lady.

Also, stereotypical sorority girl would be driving a newer 3 or 4 Series.

If 3/4 Series was beyond their means, a Jetta will always be a good substitute.

I was a Chi Phi. We're more of a southeastern fraternity, not a big presence in Texas.

Yup, that's one with which I am not familiar. I'm Greek, so I'm always curious.

Our house was on 26th street right across from the Kappa Sigs' house. It's now a damned midrise condo, just like the rest of west campus.

Oh, so we've already had this conversation, and you already know I wear the star and crescent. Cool. :3

...except for that whole not a man thing, but nationals doesn't know, so I can keep lobbying for inclusion of trans men.

Are you saying that you think they would blackball you if they knew about your situation? I would certainly hope that a fraternity nowadays would be a little bit more accepting than that.

I don't know if they would or not, I'm not planning to let them find out. I consulted with alumni advisors before I rushed, and I've kept them informed once I made formal changes. They have advised me not to go to nationals until certain liberal factions see more rotation into positions of consequence. We're not there yet, but we will be eventually. I'm not advocating the continued inclusion of trans women, in fact, I would be okay with being removed if trans men were given carte blanche to rush, pledge, and initiate—which is not the case now.

Truth is, my experience was pretty women-centric anyway, I spent most of my time (as did my brothers) with members of sororities. There was a sorority I came very close to rushing instead, key members knew, and they discussed the issue, but in the end were deeply concerned that their nationals might take it out on the chapter if they let me. So, considering how tied the two were, plus how awesome the guys really were and are, I opted to go with the organisation open to me.

Ever since I was an undergrad, my main office employed several openly gay brothers as chapter consultants. They also preached inclusion (and rightfully so). No one I knew was a trans individual, though I'm sure they were out there.

For different reasons, I always joked with people that since I'm an AXO legacy, I'd try to join their sorority. ;)

I wish I could have gone KD (legacy), again, not possible. Alas, if I was 15 years younger, things would be very different. Also a legacy for Kappa Alpha and Tau Kappa Epsilon, uncles. NOPE NOPE NOPE.

As racist as their national organization is, the KAs at Texas (or whatever they call themselves this month, as I think their charter was yanked), they threw some pretty good parties. I never went to any KS shindigs (as our two chapters fought a couple of times per year because alcohol), but y'all had ridiculous builds for formals.

They're Omicron Prime or something like that. And yeah, they're like RIGHT next to the KS house/lodge.

Depending on when you were there, our house was on the lot right across from y'all's house. We had the same kind of apartment/chapter house as Sigma Chi has, but our house was older. Our chapter alum association had money to build a new house, but we needed to reorganize before we built it (the brothers got lazy and did the bare minimum for rush). We shared an alley with the KAs.

Y'all were the Texas Taus, right?

I thought Sigma Chi was on 22 1/2 St and Pearl, I used to live in an apartment right across from it. All of that was torn down the year I finished to make room for those stupid ass condos you were speaking about earlier. And yes, the Texas chapter is Tau.

Sigma Chi is at 27th and Nueces, between the Zetas and the Tri-Delts. You might be thinking of Theta Chi. I'm almost ashamed that I remember all of this, considering I was there 15 years ago.

I try not to drive around in west campus anymore. All of the new condos destroying the local flavor and culture makes me scream obscenities and rage. I literally yell cuss words at the top of my lungs when I see it, and I don't calm down until I'm on the other side of the river on MOPAC turning off into Westlake (my family still all lives there).

Oh, yeah, back behind across the drag from where Torchies is now, right? And the SigEp house was back near there too? It was nearly a decade ago for me, and in many, many ways a complete lifetime ago. My memories are pretty hazy.

The Sig Eps had a house not far from our houses, right around the corner on one of the river streets. Big ass red brick house on a big ass lot. I think SAE had a house a block or so away from then as well. That's about the extent of my memory of Greek houses in Austin.

It was a lifetime ago for me as well. Not nearly to the extent that you've experienced, though. Funny. Sometimes it feels like yesterday, other times it feels like it was a century ago.

That depends, where did this take place?

If in the south, probably listening to pop country featuring some member of 36 Mafia. If on the west coast probably EDM, if on the east coast probably Beyonce.

Actually I take that all back, the answer is always Kanye.

As a current greek student at a southern school I can say that this is true, as well as Ford Escapes and Subaru foresters

Absolutely! Pretty much any of the current small suv's are dominating the parking lots across campuses. My girlfriend and 3 of her sorority sisters all drive 2011+ subaru foresters. What you have to think about here is who actually is purchasing these cars for them and generally its their parents. They want them to be safe and such and with subaru's recent ad campaigns ingrained into our brains its an easy sell on the parents. While, the prototypical sorority girl still wants to be cute, peppy, and somewhat original so whats the go to choice? SUBARU. ALWAYS SUBARU.
